Teaching

Introduction

We teach you basic knowledge of systematic botany together with relevant traits to enable you to determine flowering plants and ecological strategy types. Moreover, we impart the fundamentals of plant- and ecosytem ecology with focus on the fact that ecological processes act on differing, but interacting scales. On top, we give you a global overview over the decisive factors of plant life and how they result in different vegetation types and ecosystems.
You can also get deeper insights in functional biodiversity research, as the relationship between plant diversity and its effect on ecosystem processes from the local to the global scale. Our methods range from excursions and exercises for plant determination, over standard methods in plant ecology for lab and field work, all the way to courses of statistical methods.
